Today marks the beginning of the “Reporting on International Security and Terrorism” seminar in Istanbul. For three days journalists from around the world will attend panels on topics ranging from the Arab Spring and social media to counterterrorism and cyber security. Two notable speakers are Zalmay Khalilzad (former US ambassador to the UN, Iraq, and Afghanistan) and Ehsan ul-Haq (former Director General of the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence). The participants range from freelancers to reporters from CNN, Reuters, and more, with all manner of countries and cities (Atlanta, Abu Dhabi, the UK, Afghanistan, etc.) represented.
